Lancashire Police’s Special Constables celebrated at Annual Awards

Tuesday, October 14, 2025

The dedication and commitment of standout Special Constables was celebrated in an awards evening at Lancashire Police’s Headquarters in Hutton on Tuesday 7th October.

The Special Constabulary Annual Awards are held each year to recognise the invaluable role Specials play in making Lancashire a safer place to live, work and visit, and to reward those who go above and beyond in the service they provide as volunteers.

Special Constables are volunteer police officers who come from all walks of life, bringing a vast range of skills and experience. They join from a huge variety of professions, including teachers, GPs, project managers, directors, retailers and just about any profession you can think of. Specials are a vital and valued part of the Constabulary, with the same uniform and powers of arrest as Police Officers.

Assistant Chief Constable Stasia Osiowy presented this year’s awards.

She said: “The 2025 Special Constabulary Annual Awards provide much deserved recognition for inspirational volunteers.

“I would like to congratulate all those who won an award and to thank them for the standout contributions they have made to help keep the communities of Lancashire safe.

“I would also like to thank all our other Specials for all that they do for the Constabulary and the people of Lancashire.

“Working in many departments, they all play a vital role in preventing crime and anti-social behaviour and protecting our communities, whilst maintaining the trust and confidence of those we serve.

“We currently have 121 Specials, and in the past year they have contributed over 41,000 volunteering hours to supporting Immediate Response (IR), Neighbourhood Policing (NHP), local ops and events, football, specialist teams and attending mandatory and development training.

“The Special Constabulary is invaluable to the force and the communities of Lancashire, and I am hugely grateful to all our Specials for the outstanding service they provide as volunteers to help make the county a safer place to live, work and visit.”

The High Sheriff of Lancashire, James Carter DL, also attended the awards ceremony.
