Rossendale Police, in collaboration with partner agencies, conducted another successful day of action on Tuesday 5th August to address concerns raised by the local community.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team were joined by Trading Standards for an enforcement visit to a local shop following concerns raised by residents regarding the sale of illicit tobacco. A small quantity of illicit tobacco was seized during the operation and further action is being taken by Trading Standards.
As part of the activity, officers were joined by the Stanley Trust for a free sports session offering a fun diversionary activity aimed at young people. This community-focused activity is part of the Safer Streets Summer initiative which brings together police and partner agencies to focus on crime prevention, community engagement, and high-visibility policing where it matters most.
Local Neighbourhood Sergeant Paul Marsden said, “It’s great that we have been able to remove a quantity of illegal tobacco products from the streets of Haslingden.
“We will continue to actively work with our partner agencies to tackle the issues and concerns of our communities.
“It’s also been fantastic that we have been able to work with partners to provide some fun and engaging events for young people in our area, as this kind of activity provides a valuable opportunity for young people to connect with law enforcement in a positive way.
