We have this morning arrested a number of people as part of an investigation into a shooting and disturbance in Skelmersdale.
We were called in the early hours of Sunday, July 6th to a report that a man in his 20s had presented at a hospital in Greater Manchester with a gunshot wound. He has since been discharged.
We had earlier been called to Flimby, Skelmersdale, at 11.36pm on Saturday (5th July) following a report of a disturbance. It was reported that a number of men were chasing a vehicle, some possibly in possession of bladed weapons.
These incidents are being treated as linked.
An investigation was launched and following enquiries we earlier today arrested four people on suspicion of attempted murder. They are men aged 22, 23 and 24 from Skelmersdale and a 25-year-old man from Ormskirk. They are currently in custody.
A 36-year-old man from Skelmersdale was earlier arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
