A man has been jailed for shoplifting, making off without payment and disqualified driving in Blackburn.
On the 2nd October 2025, officers received reports that an outstanding wanted male had been seen in the Eanam area of Blackburn. Once officers arrived on scene they arrested a man for theft from a shop.
Chris Hamer, 37, of Clayton Street, Blackburn, was charged with five counts of theft from a shop, two counts of making off without payment and disqualified driving.
On 3rd November 2025, Hamer appeared at Blackburn Magistrates Court, where he was sentenced to eight weeks in prison.

Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw and the Lancashire Partnership Against Crime (LANPAC).
Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw said: "As Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner, I will continue to work alongside the Chief Constable to establish a more proactive approach to shoplifting, with better protection for shop workers and improved relationships between retailers and the police.”
