Operation Drive Insured: 101 uninsured cars seized in just one week
Wednesday, November 19, 2025
Op Drive Insured has been live across Lancashire for a week, running from Monday 10th to Sunday 16th November.
For one week, Lancashire Police have been stepping up action to seize uninsured vehicles to make our roads safer. Officers seized 101 cars in just seven days, including the Lamborghini pictured.
Uninsured drivers are statistically more likely to be involved in collisions and are more likely to be linked to wider criminal activity.
If you’re caught without insurance, you could face a £300 fine, six penalty points on your licence, and have your vehicle seized (and potentially crushed).
If the case goes to court, you may face an unlimited fine and a possible driving ban. Finally, as driving convictions can appear in background checks, it’s likely that your job prospects will be impacted, and insurance costs increased.
Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton of the Roads Policing Unit said:
“Every uninsured driver is a danger to themselves and to others. Behind every collision is a family whose life can change in an instant.
“By removing 101 uninsured vehicles from our roads during Operation Drive Insured, we’re protecting lives and sending a clear message, driving without insurance is reckless and unacceptable.
"This is only a snapshot of our activity as dealing with uninsured vehicles is part of our daily business. We encourage people to come forward with information regarding unlicenced and uninsured drivers who have the potential to cause harm to innocent members of the public".
Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said:
“Targeted enforcement operations like this are vital for improving road safety and the results speak for themselves.
"It is important that everyone in Lancashire is safe and feels safe on our roads. We have dedicated officers working around the clock to target offenders and put them before the courts.
"I will continue to work closely with the Chief Constable to make sure our roads policing teams have the backing and resources they need to target anyone who puts themselves and others in danger through the illegal use of our road network, and ultimately save lives."
