A man has been jailed after drugs were seized at an address in Preston.
Our officers attended a property in Old Millstones, Preston, on 13th June this year, to arrest Dane Crawford who was wanted on recall to prison and on suspicion of an assault.
It was believed Crawford was at the address and officers forced entry.
Crawford was arrested in the kitchen and several bags of Class A drugs, suspected to be heroin and crack cocaine, were seized.
Some of the drugs were in individually wrapped packages, and larger qualities were on the counter tops of the kitchen – being prepared for sale.
Weighing scales, mobile phones and packaging were also found.
Forensic tests were carried out on the drugs seized, and Etonitazene – a benzimidazole opioid – was found mixed in with the heroin.
Etonitazene is a synthetic opioid which can be added to drugs to bulk them out and makes the drugs more powerful to those using them.
That can be highly dangerous for users who don’t realise the strength of the drugs they are taking.
Crawford, 32, of Howgill Avenue, Lancaster, pleaded guilty to possession of Class A controlled drugs with intent to supply at a hearing in July.
When he appeared at Preston Crown Court last Friday (14th November) for sentence, Crawford was jailed for four years and two months.
