We are continuing to investigate a wounding in Blackpool which left a man with serious stab injuries.
We were called by the ambulance service at shortly after 12am yesterday (Tuesday, October 28th) following the assault at the junction of Stan Mortensen Avenue and Princess Street in the resort.
A local man in his 30s was attacked by at least three offenders and suffered a number of stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
The victim’s family is being supported and updated by specially trained officers.
Our investigation is continuing and yesterday (Tuesday) we arrested a 27-year-old man from Blackpool on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody while enquiries continue
The investigation team continue to gather evidence including CCTV footage and to speak to witnesses and we would again ask for anyone who has footage or information which could assist us to get in touch.
A number of properties are being searched by officers as we try to identify those responsible for the attack.
Det Insp Jill Vescovi, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “We are making significant progress and have a team of dedicated investigators gathering and reviewing evidence.
“This was an extremely violent attack on a public street which could easily have resulted in a man’s death. I still believe that there are witnesses, or people who are aware of what happened, who have not yet come forward. I would again like to appeal to those people, or anyone who might have CCTV or dashcam footage relevant to the investigation, to get in touch.
“You may see extra officers out and about in the area over the next day or two so if you have any information or concerns please do feel free to speak to them.”
