Appeal to identify mobility scooter rider who was injured in Blackpool collision

We are appealing for witnesses, footage and information after a man was left with serious injuries following a road traffic collision on Plymouth Road, Blackpool.

Our officers were called to Plymouth Road, Blackpool at 12:41pm on Wednesday 15th April following reports the rider of a red and black mobility scooter had veered off the pavement and had come into collision with a red Kia Sportage.

The rider of the mobility scooter was taken to hospital with serious head injuries where he remains at this time. 

We are still trying to identity of the mobility scooter rider as he undergoes treatment in hospital, and we have released this picture of the scooter (right) and the keys (below) found in it in the hope someone might recognise it.

Det Sgt Stuart Hart, of our Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “A man has been left with serious injuries following this incident and we would very much like to identify the rider of the mobility scooter.

"He had no personal possessions with him and no form of identification. I would urge members of the public to view the images of the scooter and to get in touch should anyone have any knowledge who the rider could be. 

 

"The rider of the mobility scooter is described as a man in his 60s, white in appearance, slim build and short in height and has short shaven greying hair which is thinning on top. He has no distinctive marks, scars or tattoos.

"We are in the early stages of our investigation, and I am appealing directly to you, the public, for your assistance. 

"If you have dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of the collision or of the male riding the mobility scooter prior to the incident, please do get in touch with us."
