Friday, February 6, 2026

Illegal E-bikes, E-Scooters and off-road bikes have been seized from the streets in Blackburn as we continue our crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

Officers from the Blackburn with Darwen Neighbourhood and Task Force Team worked alongside the National Air Service and Roads Policing Team to carry out a targeted operation focusing on road safety and the illegal use of bikes and e-scooters across the area.

During the operation on Friday 23rd January, our aim was to:

  • Reduce Anti-Social behaviour

  • Proactively enforce road traffic legislation

  • Educate riders on the legal use of e-bikes and e-scooters

Whilst completing the operation, officers sighted a vehicle believed to be linked to drugs supply in Blackburn. On stopping the vehicle, we located a large quantity of cannabis and two men, aged 39 and 26, both from Blackburn were arrested on suspicion of Possession with Intent to Supply.

Shortly after, we spotted another vehicle believed to be involved in drugs supply, which failed to stop for our officers. Following a short foot chase, and a search of the vehicle, a large quantity of suspected class A drugs were discovered and a 25-year-old man from Blackburn and 26-year-old man from Darwen were both arrested on suspicion of Possession with Intent to Supply offences.

All four have since be bailed pending further enquiries.

During the operation, we also seized 13 surrons, e-bikes and e-scooters, mainly under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act for no valid license or insurance. Some of these vehicles will not be returned and will be crushed.

Op Centurion is a county-wide crackdown on anti-social behaviour, led by Lancashire Constabulary and backed by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, delivering his priority of getting tough on anti-social behaviour, with the support of our partners.
