Preston Police strengthen presence in City Centre

Wednesday, February 4, 2026

As part of the Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee and our ongoing commitment to tackling the issues that matter most to the people who live, work, and visit Preston, we have strengthened our local policing presence in the city centre.

The newly expanded City Centre local policing team now comprises of four Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), four Police Constables, and one Police Sergeant.

This uplift reflects our continued focus on addressing community priorities, increasing visibility, and ensuring that our neighbourhood policing approach remains responsive and effective.

These officers will continue to take dedicated responsibility for policing the City Centre, delivering targeted patrols, problem‑solving activity, and meaningful engagement with local residents, businesses, and visitors.

During 2025, your Preston City Centre team:

·        Deployed to over 1900 incidents

·        Conducted 253 Stop Searches

·        Arrested 271 people

Inspector Adam Pearson, from Preston’s Local Policing Team, said: “We are committed to working closely with our partners and the local community to make sure that Preston City Centre is a safe and enjoyable place to visit, work and live.

This uplift in officers gives us even greater capacity to focus on the issues that matter most to you and to continue building a visible, proactive policing presence in the heart of the city.”
