Appeal after elderly pedestrian seriously injured in Leyland collision

We are appealing for witnesses and footage after an elderly woman suffered serious injuries in a collision in Leyland.

At 7.06am on Saturday (10th January), we were called to the junction of Dunkirk Lane and Paradise Lane, Leyland, to a report of a road traffic collision.

Our officers attended and found that a Mercedes A200 car had been in collision with a pedestrian – a woman in her late 80s.

She suffered serious pelvic, shoulder and spinal injuries, and is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

The driver of the Mercedes stopped at the scene and was unhurt.

Sgt Paul McCurrie of our Roads Policing Team, said: “My thoughts are very much with the woman as she undergoes treatment and care in hospital.

“As we investigate the collision, we are asking anyone who witnessed it or has dashcam or CCTV footage from the area, to speak to us.

“It happened quite early in the morning but there will have been people around at that time.”
