Fourteen illegal and abandoned vehicles seized in Preston enforcement drive

Officers from Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing and Prosper Partnership Team have carried out another ‘Skip the Whip’ - a multi-agency operation to tackle illegal and abandoned vehicles.

Working alongside the DVLA, the teams identified problematic vehicles across multiple streets in the St Matthews area of Preston including Skeffington Road, Great George Street, Canute Street, Egbert Street, Deepdale Street and Ribbleton Street.

As part of the operation, which aims to remove untaxed, abandoned and unroadworthy vehicles from the streets, 14 vehicles were seized and removed from the area, freeing up valuable space and removing any associated anti-social behaviour.

PC Hamza Musa from the Prosper Partnership Team said: “These operations are about working closely with our partner agencies to tackle the issues that matter most to our communities.

“We know that these abandoned vehicles can be hazardous for pedestrians and cause problems for businesses, as well as being a real eyesore for those visiting and working in the area.

“We remain committed to addressing these concerns and encourage everyone to report issues to us so that we can work to tackle them.”
