Hyndburn Police were out again on Wednesday 28th January 2026, continuing with Operation Rally, a dedicated day of intensified action to tackle the top concerns raised by local residents, visitors and businesses in the area.
The Hyndburn North Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a full day of proactive activity this week, working alongside partner agencies to increase visibility, tackle crime, and speak with residents about their concerns. The day began with a joint Police and DVSA operation on Blackburn Road in Rishton, with enforcement activity focusing on vehicle compliance and road safety.
Overall, the results were successful, identifying a range of critical and advisory defects to ensure vehicle safety and compliance moving forward. Several delayed prohibition notices were issued for defects including a missing wheel bolt, inoperative wiper blades, a cracked windscreen, and a missing wheel nut. Immediate prohibition notices were also issued for a tyre worn below the legal limit, defective direction and indicator lamps, along with advisories for a broken rear position lamp, a damaged lamp lens, and illuminated ABS and Traction Control warning lights.
Officers then hosted a well‑attended Coffee with a Cop event at the new Cath Thom Leisure Centre in Clayton‑le‑Moors, where members of the public dropped in to speak with the Neighbourhood Team and raise local issues. Throughout the morning, officers also conducted high‑visibility foot patrols in Clayton‑le‑Moors and Altham. During evening patrols, officers carried out a stop search behind the boxing club on Pickup Street, where cannabis was seized from a young person, who will now be dealt with appropriately.
The mobile police station was positioned at Tesco in Great Harwood late morning, giving residents another opportunity to meet the team. At 1pm, Police Officers, PCSOs and Designing Out Crime Officers met with businesses on Peel Retail Park to discuss ongoing theft concerns and explore practical crime‑prevention solutions. The mobile police station remained at the retail park throughout the afternoon to support engagement with local shoppers and retailers.
Further high‑visibility patrols took place into the afternoon and evening across Rishton, Great Harwood and Clayton‑le‑Moors, with officers focusing on known antisocial behaviour hotspots. Another Coffee with a Cop at Great Harwood Library also saw strong attendance, with residents discussing safety, local priorities and ongoing neighbourhood issues.
In response to concerns about dangerous parking outside schools, the Neighbourhood Policing Team visited Mount Pleasant Primary School at home time, noting good compliance on this occasion but confirming continued monitoring. Officers also attended St. Christopher’s High School, providing reassurance and visibility as pupils left for the day.
Inspector Mohammed Lorgat from the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We’re dedicated to tackling the issues that matter most to our communities, and days like this play a vital role in our neighbourhood policing work. Being out in the community allows us to be visible, build trust, and work alongside residents to address concerns together.
“We encourage people to keep sharing their views through Lancashire Talking so we can continue focusing on the priorities that affect you the most.”
