Closure order extended to protect Chorley community from anti-social behaviour

Monday, July 6, 2026

A closure order on a property in Chorley linked to persistent anti-social behaviour has been extended for a further three months.

The order, covering a house on Poplar Drive in Coppull, was originally granted at Lancaster Magistrates' Court on 31 March 2026 under Section 80 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, following a series of incidents that caused significant disruption to the community.

Following a further application by Lancashire Constabulary, the court has now extended the order until 30th September 2026. The order prohibits anyone from entering or visiting the property.

Since the closure order was first introduced, reports of anti-social behaviour in the area have fallen, providing much-needed reassurance to local residents.

PC Georgina Anson, of Chorley's Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We know the impact anti-social behaviour can have on people's lives, and we want residents to know that we are listening and taking action alongside our partners.

"The closure order has already made a difference to those living nearby, with a significant reduction in the anti-social behaviour that was causing concern.

"By securing this extension, we can continue to protect the community, prevent further disruption and help ensure local people feel safe and supported in their neighbourhood."

The extension forms part of Operation Centurion, Lancashire's county-wide crackdown on anti-social behaviour.

The initiative is led by Lancashire Constabulary and supported by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw, delivering on his commitment to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve public safety, working closely with local partners.
