Fylde Police Supporting AIG Women’s Open with Increased Presence

Fylde Police are set to increase their presence across Lytham and St Annes as visitors attend the 50^th AIG Women’s Open, hosted at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club.

Lytham and the surrounding areas are expecting an influx of visitors over the coming days as golfing fans flock to watch the 2026 AIG Women’s Open, beginning on Wednesday 29th July 2026 and running until Sunday 2nd August 2026.

In preparation, policing teams are increasing their presence in the area to ensure that the event runs smoothly. Local Neighbourhood Officers will maintain a visible and reassuring presence throughout the event supported by specialist resources, such as the Mounted Branch, to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone visiting the Fylde Coast.

Chief Inspector Mark Douglas said:

“We have been working closely with The R&A, Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, Fylde Council and a number of other key partners to ensure that visitors to the AIG Women’s Open have a safe and pleasant time here in Fylde.

“It is a really exciting event to be a part of, and we will be doing everything we can to ensure that it goes by without a hitch. Whilst we do our part, the visitors have their own important part to play in making this happen and I want to share the following advice:

In busy crowds, please keep your personal belongings, such as phones and wallets, safely tucked into a secure bag.

If you’re driving to the event, please take extra care and allow a little more time for your journey, as roads are expected to be busier than usual. When parking, make sure your vehicle is locked and no valuables are left on display.

We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable experience, so any anti-social or criminal behaviour, both at the event and nearby, will be dealt with.

Finally, if you notice anything that doesn’t feel right, please don’t hesitate to speak to us or a member of event security.

We all have a role to play in keeping each other safe. Your safety is our priority so please approach an officer if you need help.”
