Lancashire Police have been successful in securing a Closure Order for a shop in Longridge.

Daily Needs Market on Berry Lane has been ordered to close for a minimum of three months by Blackburn Magistrates Court following a hearing today (1st July).

The closure order was applied for by Lancashire Police’s Civil Orders Team, with officers from the Longridge Neighbourhood Policing Team (pictured) visiting the shop to enforce it.

Our officers and colleagues from Trading Standards had seized thousands of pounds worth of illicit and counterfeit tobacco, cigarettes, vapes and toys from the shop.

Trading Standards had also made test purchases from the shop where age-restricted products had been sold to people under the age of 18.

Sgt Duncan Hall, Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant for Ribble Valley, said: “This closure order will prevent criminal activity taking place and protect children and the local community from unsafe and unlawfully sold products.

“It will reduce the risk of anti-social behaviour which this type of business can attract.

“The order will be in place for a minimum of three months.”

Op Centurion is a county-wide crackdown on anti-social behaviour, led by Lancashire Constabulary and backed by the Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.
