A prolific shoplifter has been jailed for shoplifting and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Darren McCaul, 34, of Springbank Avenue Thornton-Cleveleys was arrested 15th July 2026 after alcohol, cleaning products and coffee products were taken from four stores across Fleetwood and Thornton-Cleveleys.
He was later charged with four counts of theft from a shop and two counts of breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order.
McCaul has a Criminal Behaviour Order in place until May 2029 which prevents him from entering any retail premises in Fleetwood.
On Friday 17th July, McCaul appeared between Lancaster Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to all offences. He was jailed for 16 weeks for breaching his Criminal Behaviour Order and 12 weeks on four counts of theft from a shop, which will run consecutively.
Sgt Andy Hill from the Wyre Neighbourhood Policing Team said:
“This sentence sends a clear message that retail theft will not be tolerated in Wyre. Shop theft has a significant impact on businesses, their staff and the wider community, and we are committed to bringing offenders before the courts.
“Through Operation Vulture, we continue to work closely with retailers and partner agencies to identify, target and prosecute those responsible for retail crime. The information and evidence provided by businesses is invaluable in helping us build cases and secure convictions.”
