Three teenagers have been sentenced after a stabbing in Blackpool which left a man with serious injuries.

Our officers were called by the ambulance service at shortly after 12am on Tuesday, 28th October last year following reports of an assault at the junction of Stan Mortensen Avenue and Princess Street in the resort.

It was reported that a local man in his 30s was attacked and suffered a number of stab wounds. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but has since recovered.

Our Force Major Investigation Team launched a major inquiry, and we arrested three teenagers at the time aged 16, 17 and 17.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service they were charged with attempted murder.

In May this year following a trial a 17-year-old was found guilty of Section 18 wounding with intent.

Another teenager who has since turned 18 and can be named as Mackenzie Feenie (pictured), of Bond Street was found not guilty of Section 18 but was convicted of Section 20 wounding.

A third teenager, aged 17, had already pleaded guilty to Section 18 wounding with intent.

They all appeared before Preston Crown Court today (Friday, July 17th) for sentence.

The 17-year-old who was found guilty by a jury after a trial, was sentenced to four years imprisonment.

Feenie, 18, was sentenced to 23 months imprisonment, and the other 17-year-old who pleaded guilty, got three-and-a-half years.

Det Chief Insp Jill Vescovi, of the Force Major Investigation Team, said: “This incident left the victim with some really serious injuries, and this could easily have become a murder investigation. This goes to show the life changing consequences that using a knife can have – both for victims but also those who carry them.

“We work tirelessly to reduce knife crime and make it clear that it has no place in our communities.

“We remain committed to working with partners to engage, educate, and prevent, while taking firm action against those who carry knives.

“If you have information about someone carrying a knife, you can report it anonymously through Crimestoppers.”
