A bike rider who was seriously injured after coming off his bike in Burnley has sadly died.
Emergency services were called at just after 8.30pm on Tuesday (June 23rd) after the incident which happened on Villiers Street at the junction with Magpie Close in Burnley.
The cyclist, a man in his 40s from Burnley, was taken to hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries yesterday afternoon.
It is believed the man was riding along Villiers Street from Swallow Park towards Magpie Close when he came off the bike. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances and how he sustained his injuries.
Sgt Ben Elliot, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “Very sadly a man has lost his life as a result of this incident and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.
“We are continuing to investigate exactly what happened to cause this and I would again ask anyone who saw the incident itself or who has any footage such as dashcam, mobile, or CCTV, or who saw the bike – which is bright red – before the incident, to come forward and speak to us.”
