Police have seized a number of illegal e-bikes, e-scooters and off-road bikes from the streets of Skelmersdale as part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour.
Last week, officers from the West Lancashire Neighbourhood Policing Team, supported by the West Lancs Task Force, carried out a plain-clothed operation in response to community concerns about the misuse of illegal e-bikes and scooters.
Over the course of the operation, 3 vehicles were seized across the Skelmersdale Town Centre under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. These vehicles will now be destroyed.
During the activity, officers also arrested a man on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The operation forms part of Operation Centurion, a county-wide initiative aimed at tackling anti-social behaviour, including the illegal use of e-bikes, e-scooters and motorbikes.
West Lancashire Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Morgan said: "We know the significant impact that illegal e-bikes and anti-social driving have on our communities, and we are committed to taking robust action against those responsible.
“Removing these vehicles helps make our streets safer and sends a clear message that this behaviour will not be tolerated."
"We will continue to carry out targeted operations and act on the information provided by the public to address these concerns."
