South Ribble man jailed for breaching Criminal Behaviour Order

Tuesday, March 10, 2026

A South Ribble man has been jailed for breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) that banned him from entering certain shops.

It follows a series of thefts from Co-Op in Penwortham and Booths on Millbrook Way between January and February 2026 in which boxes of chocolates, Easter eggs and packets of meat were stolen.

Steven Mayren, 42, of Higher Croft, Penwortham was arrested and subsequently charged with five thefts and three counts of breaching a CBO.

He appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Wednesday 25th February 2026, where he pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.

The CBO, issued in January 2026, prohibits Mayren from entering any Co-Op store for a period of two years.

Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s dedicated response to tackling shoplifting across the county, supported by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw.

The initiative involves targeted hotspot patrols, increased police visibility, and strengthened partnerships with retailers to improve intelligence sharing, deepen understanding of retail crime, and identify offenders more effectively.
