Tuesday, May 5, 2026

We are appealing for witnesses and footage after a man very sadly died and two people were seriously injured in a collision in Haslingden.

The emergency services were called at 11.49pm yesterday to Helmshore Road and the junction with Dean Road, to a report of collision.

Our officers attended and found that a VW Golf car which had been travelling south on Helmshore Road had left the carriageway and collided with the side of a house.

The driver of the Golf, a man aged in his 20s, suffered multiple injuries and very sadly was later pronounced deceased in hospital.

Two teenage girls in the car, both aged 18, suffered severe injuries and are both being treated in hospital.

Specially trained officers are supporting their families.

The road was closed for some time to allow investigation work to be carried out.

Sgt Anthony Beckett, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “My thoughts first and foremost are very much with the family and loved ones of the driver who has very sadly passed away, and with the girls as they receive care and treatment in hospital.

“This was a collision with horrendous consequences and as we investigate what happened, we are appealing to the public for assistance.

“If you witnessed the collision or have dashcam/CCTV/Doorbell footage, please get in touch with us.”
