A man who engaged in sexual activity with a teenager knowing she was underage, has been jailed.

Daniel Carr (pictured right) was in his 20s when he met the girl and he was aware she was under the age of 16.

He also assaulted his victim and made threats towards her.

Carr’s actions caught up with him today (2nd November) when he was jailed for three years by a judge at Preston Crown Court Sessions House.

He appeared in court via video link from prison where he was on remand.

Carr, 30, of Ivinson Road, Darwen, had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing to engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15, and assault causing actual bodily harm.

In a Victim Personal Statement, the girl said: “He ruined my life. He’s made me cautious and not trust people.

“He’s made me permanently on the defensive and think people are attacking me. Then I get upset when I realise, they’re not.”

She continued: “He has never shown me any remorse about what he did and has never said sorry. I believe he will never change.

“It has taken time to get him to court and during this time I have had setbacks and got upset.”

Lorraine Widdas, investigation officer with Blackburn CID, said: “Daniel Carr behaved in a terrible way towards his victim who was vulnerable and younger than him.

“If you have been a victim of sexual offences, please report it to Lancashire Police.

“We will listen to you, support you, and investigate in order to put offenders before the courts.”
