Man charged with string of shoplifting offences across Preston

Thursday, November 5, 2026

We have charged a man with multiple shoplifting offences after a string of thefts from shops across Preston.

It relates to incidents at shops including Booths and Sainsbury’s between September and November 2026 in which boxes of chocolates, washing pods, alcohol and a power bank were stolen.

Following enquiries by Preston’s Neighbourhood Policing Team, a 58-year-old man was arrested yesterday (4th November 2026), and we can now tell you that Christopher Moran, 58, of no fixed address, has been charged with eight counts of theft from a shop and seven counts of breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.

He has been remanded into custody and will appear before Preston Magistrates Court this morning.

Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.
