Three teenagers have been arrested after a house was burgled and two vehicles were stolen in Skelmersdale.

We were called at around 5.50am on Wednesday (4th November 2026) following reports that offenders had entered a property on Yewdale overnight. Two sets of car keys were taken before two vehicles parked outside were stolen.

One of the vehicles was recovered nearby a short time later.

The second vehicle, a Seat Ateca, was subsequently spotted being driven in the area. Following a short pursuit, the car collided with a lamp post on Heversham.

One person fled the vehicle through the sunroof, while three others were detained at the scene.

A 15-year-old boy from Skelmersdale was arrested on suspicion of burglary, taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

A 16-year-old boy from Chorley and a 16-year-old boy from Skelmersdale were both arrested on suspicion of burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.

The arrests form part of Operation Defender, Lancashire Constabulary's force-wide campaign to tackle residential burglary, supported by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner, Clive Grunshaw.
