A man has been charged with taking a vehicle without consent after a car was stolen from outside an address in Accrington in July.
The owner of the car called police on the morning of Sunday 19 July after realising their car had been stolen from outside their home on Arncliffe Avenue. The car was found four days later in Blackburn.
Enquiries had been ongoing since, and yesterday (Wednesday 29 October), officers in Accrington responded to reports of a sighting of a man who we wanted to speak to, in connection with the incident.
The man was arrested on suspicion of interfering with a motor vehicle, taking a motor vehicle without the owners’ consent and recall to prison.
We can now share with you that Ashley Spencer, 20, of Russell Terrace in Padiham, has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owners’ consent. He has been remanded to custody and will appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court on Monday 16 November.
