A man and woman have been charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, after officers saw a suspected drug deal take place in Accrington.

Officers stopped a vehicle on Blackburn Road in the town centre on Tuesday (13 October), after seeing the suspected drug deal take place on Ormerod Street. The man, 33, and woman, 25, inside the car were searched, and the woman had wraps concealed in her pants, while three phones and some cash were also found in the car.

Officers conducted a further search of the home address of the suspects in Accrington, and recovered more cash, mobile phones, Class A and B drugs, and drug dealing paraphernalia, including digital scales and packaging.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class A drug (heroin and crack) with intent to supply.

Luke Entwistle, 33, and Melissa Riley, 25, both of Medina Close in Accrington, have now been charged with possession of a Class A drug (heroin and crack cocaine) and a Class B drug (cannabis) with the intent to supply. Entwistle has also been charged with disqualified driving.

Both will appear at Blackburn Magistrates Court today (Thursday 15 October).
