Witness and footage appeal after man dies in Burnley collision

Wednesday, October 14, 2026

We are appealing for witnesses and footage after a man died following a collision in Burnley.

The emergency services were called at 7.07pm yesterday to Crown Point Road to a report of a collision.

Our officers attended and found that a grey Skoda Octavia estate travelling on Crown Point Road in the direction of Manchester Road had collided with a dry-stone wall.

Very sadly, a man in his 20s was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another man in his 20s suffered spinal and ribs injuries and was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

A third male, a 22-year-old man from Padiham, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has now been released under investigation.

The road was closed to allow for collision investigation work before being reopened around 2.25am today.

Det Sgt Helen Parkinson of our Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “First and foremost, my thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones at this distressing and very sad time.

“As we investigate the collision, we are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t yet spoken to us, to come forward.

“If you have dashcam or CCTV footage of the Skoda Octavia in the area before the collision, or you saw it being driven, again please contact us.”
