A man has been sentenced to 12 months in prison after being charged with a string of shoplifting offences in Nelson.
Khumbulani Nyathi, 28, of no fixed abode, was charged with fourteen counts of theft from a shop and four breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO)
He appeared at Preston Magistrates Court on Saturday 19 September, where he pleaded guilty to all counts.
Sgt Carl McCoy from the Prosper Partnership Team said: "This is a fantastic result for the community, who will now be afforded some respite. This type of criminality will not be tolerated within our communities, and we will work with our local businesses to prevent these types of offences occurring as part of Operation Vulture."
Operation Vulture is Lancashire Constabulary’s response to shoplifting across the county, backed by Lancashire's Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.
The operation sees dedicated officers undertaking hotspot patrolling, increasing their visibility in targeted areas and creating strong partnerships with retailers across the county to better share intelligence, get a deeper understanding of retail crime and identify more offenders.
